3 Months Old Today!!
Three months have come and gone in a flash and it is just so amazing to see how much Jonathan has changed in just these few weeks! Starting last Saturday (February 11) he started sleeping through the night! He went to bed about 10:00 and slept until almost 7:00 am! Steve and I were in shock, but not too quick to get excited. But he has continued on the 7-9 hour stretch since. (crosses fingers) I went back to work last Monday (February 13). I can't say that I was completely torn, because I had my mom and Steve taking care of him the days I work. Oh, yeah, I only work 4 days a week now, too! It has been such a blessing. About 3 weeks before I left on maternity leave, my boss called me into his office to inform me about cuts that the hospital was making across the board. He was asked to cut his employees to 36 hour work weeks. Some of my co-workers can't do that, so he asked a handful of us if we were willing to go to 32 hour work weeks. It was a prayer answered. Now, I have every Tuesday off to spend with my little man! Some other things Jonathan is doing...he found his thumb! Although it is extremely cute, I am trying to nip that in the bud, quick! I am just thinking orthodontics! I was a thumb sucker and I know first hand what that can do to the teeth and mouth. So, we are trying to stick to the pacifier and teethers. Over the past few weeks, he has been sucking and chewing on everything in site. I almost wonder if he is going to teethe early because the drooling has also picked up. I guess time will tell. He is holding his head up without any trouble, tracks people across a room and has also distinguished between Julius and Caesar. It is really cute to see those two come and check on him while he is sleeping in his swing. Although we do have to watch Caesar because he has grown quite fond of the pacifiers. He has already chewed up three! He is smiling in response to people now and is becoming quite the flirt with other ladies!! He gives that shy, little coy, smile enough to melt your heart! He "talks" quite a bit now, and even adds a little attitude to let you know exactly how he is feeling! He laughed for the first time during Super Bowl Sunday. It was during Madonna's half time show. I am not sure if it was in response to the performance or mommy singing! He plays with toys now. If you put him on his back, he will swat at the toys above and in enthralled my the music and noises. He now grabs for toys and will hold on with quite a grip. Still working on the release, but according to the occupational therapists at work, the release will come soon. He is not too fond of tummy time, but does push himself up completely onto his hands lifting his head and chest. When he is on his back, I will hold his feet with the knees bent and he will lift his butt and push himself backwards. He has tried on several occasions to wiggle out of his car seat. Ahhh, yes, Steve and I better get our running shoes on! Rest up, I have a feeling Jonathan will be crawling before we know it!
