Our Beautiful Journey: May 2012

My goodness, I cannot believe that is has been six months already. I feel like just yesterday we were brining him home from the hospital and getting our lives adjusted. Now, here we are six months later and our lives are completely changed. Having a child has been the most amazing thing for us. It is amazing to watch Jonathan grow, learn something new everyday, and especially to watch him wake up with that beautiful, sleepy smile on his face. This month has been another whirlwind of milestones!! We have continued with solid foods. We have introduced zuccini, apple, rice cereal and carrots, in addition to his avocado and sweet potatoes. Carrots...well, lets just say they are not a favorite. Jonathan is on the move! Gone are the days when we can put him down on the floor to run to the restroom, make some lunch, or clean the kitchen. Steve and I have our running shoes on and are ready to go! He started with the "commando crawl". His favorite thing to crawl after...the remote control. Yep, just like daddy! :) He started with Grandma. I came home one day and he had mastered the creep across the floor. Just last week, he propped up on all fours. It will not be long now. He took one step with his hand, but lost his balance and came down to his stomach. Yeah, Steve and I give him until next week before we invest in a play yard. I just don't like the idea of pinning my kid in. We'll see. He is getting very good at letting us know what he wants. He will start to motion to whatever he is trying to get to, he will grab at your shirt if he's tired and wants to be picked up and definitely lets us know when he hungry!This past month, Jonathan also had his first trip out to the ranch. Uncle Phil, Jessica, and Sarah threw a wonderful party (as always) out at the ranch in Comfort. Jonathan got his first taste of ranch animals, taking a picture with Grandpa and the horses, watched the cattle run through the pasture, and enjoyed the beautiful peace that is out there! We had a blast, and he got a chance to see his cousins and his great grandma and grandpa. Or as grandma likes to call themselves...The GGP's!! We are still struggling with the sitting up by himself, but I am not too worried, the kid is crawling and he wasn't even six months, yet. He doesn't sit still long enough to practice sitting. He is always into the next thing. The one thing he will sit still for...the Spurs!! He loves to sit on daddy or grandpa's lap and watch Timmy, Manu and Tony!! Grandma even bought him his very own Spurs jersey!! We have also ventured out to the dog park. He loves it!! He just follows all of the dogs as they chase each other, and he even likes to get down to pet them. He loves it when the give him "kisses" on the cheek! Now when we go out to dinner, he sits in the "big boy" high chair. We no longer take him in the carrier (unless he's asleep) and he loves being right in the middle of things at the dinner table. He reaches for the glasses, the cups, the napkins and almost pulled mommy's entire meal to the floor one time! He is just so inquisitive, and so anxious to be in the middle of EVERYTHING!! I hope Steve and I can keep up!
