14 weeks and 1 day today! Things are going really well. We made a trip to Killeen this weekend, got a chance to see my mother in law and catch up with some friends that we haven't seen in quite a while. I broke down yesterday and bought my first (well, first, second and third) pairs of maternity shorts and I am in heaven!! They are so freakin' comfortable. I think the last straw was when Steve and I went out to dinner Friday night. I wore my regular shorts, unbuttoned, with my belly band. By the time we left the restaurant, I was so uncomfortable, the zipper was undone and I was practically supine in the carseat on the ride home. We made it to the outlet malls this weekend and tried on some maternity clothes.....HEAVEN!! This is comfort!! I love the way the band just pulls over your belly (because there is definitely belly now) and how I can move, and sit without seams cutting into my gut!!
This past week, I think I had my first "movement." It was Thursday morning (13w 4d) and I got up to go to the bathroom at 2am....the second time that night, and certainly not the last! (I thought that was supposed to slow down this trimester). Anyways....I got back to bed and was lying on my left side. I laid there for awhile because I couldn't fall asleep. I felt this very distinct flutter in my stomach. I describe it as the bubbles you see making their way to the top of a sprite bottle. That's what it felt like. No, it wasn't gas...I surely know what that feels like. This was VERY different. I waited to see if it would happen again, but it didn't. It did happen again on Friday. I was sitting on a stool at work, next to a patient. I bent forward to prop my elbows on my knees and clear as day, felt it again, but again, only once. It is the neatest feeling! I can't wait to start feeling this more frequently. I know everyone keeps telling me...."be careful what you ask for!" Well, I am asking for it!! :)
Last week we also had our first OB appointment. Since Dr. Blair's office is right across the street from the hospital, Steve was able to come with me. Our US shows a growing little baby with "a beautiful humerus" as Dr. Blair and I put it and a bladder that is already working. I will go again on June 23rd for my 17 week US and then 2 weeks later for the BIG US!! That's the one where we will be able to tell the sex of the baby and they take allllll of the measurements to make sure everything is working the way its supposed to!
