I know, I have been horrible at keeping this up. I have a really hard time finding time to just sit and write. But tonight, I have so much to write about. I say this with utter thanks and praise....Steve and I are expecting!! Today, I am 7 weeks along. One day past the 6 weeks and 6 days before I miscarried in January. But this is a whole different story.....
In early March, Steve and I had the opportunity to go on a Couple's retreat with our church at Mo Ranch in Hunt, Texas. It was a weekend that we both needed after the events of the previous months. It was wonderful! We met some amazing couples, enjoyed the beautiful hill country, and got some much needed time together as a couple. As Steve and I walked away from that weekend, I think we both came back with a different outlook on our marriage, on each other and about our future. We had the wonderful opportunity to renew our vows, and I think we both realized how extremely blessed we were to have each other. It really made us stop a realize what a beautiful life we have together, and that no matter what, we are walking in Christ and he will provide for all of our needs.
As we returned from the weekend, Steve and I both knew that the "critical time" was when we were on retreat. But, I had been suffering a horrible sinus infection, was on every medication possible and we both figured that this cycle was out. So, what else do we do when we know the cycle was a no go....try, try, again. Over the next few weeks, I was becoming extremely short of breath, becoming very light headed, and was having a hard time keeping up with my work outs. March 21st came. I was already a day late, and was sure my body was all screwed up from the sinus infection. I went ahead and tested anyway....two pink lines. The feeling that I had this time around was not one of "holy crap" it was more like this amazing peace that just came over me. I walked downstairs and asked Steve, "Babe, are you ready to do this again?" He answered, "I knew it!" He said he just had a good feeling about this month, even though I had been so sick. I took another test the next morning, and another positive. So here, we go....down this road again.
I went for blood work on the 28th, and it was confirmed. Only this time, my HCG was 4,791. Last time, it was only 400. This was off to a wonderful start!! The doctor wanted to see me on April 6th for an ultrasound--a day before Steve's birthday! We went for our US and got to see a beautiful little heart beating at 120bpm, and I was measuring right on time. The doc said, "everything looks perfect." Of course it looks perfect, because this is my little gift from God that I had waited so long for. My sleepless nights of praying and hoping were over. We have been blessed. "
For this child, I have prayed, and the Lord granted me that which I have asked of him." 1 Samuel 1:27.
Right now we are taking things one day at a time. I am showing all of the signs of a very healthy pregnancy. I feel extremely bloated, find myself unbuttoning my pants, shopping for bigger bras, and needing to eat every 2 hours so I don't become nauseated. I had the wonderful opportunity to tell my parents and they are over the moon. I am still keeping things mum from those at work for at least one more week, or until my next US on the 20th!
For now, I just continue to pray for a healthy, uneventful 9 months. That this child continue to grow into a healthy, beautiful baby. I am so thankful for this beautiful blessing! For now, we have nick named the baby, "Mo" for Mo Ranch, where he/she was conceived. You know, everyone was right....just let go, let God, take a vacations, stop planning and leave the rest up to Him. Whadayaknow! It worked!
It begins.......
6 weeks 3 days--heart rate 120!!
