5 months old
This month has been fun, fun, fun!! It is just amazing how interactive Jonathan is, how much he laughs and imitates you when you blow bubbles, laugh or cough!! This month we started solids!! YEAH!! We started off with avocado, and he is loving it! We also tried some sweet potatoes and banana, but the banana didn't do so good. Every time we bring the food to his mouth, he goes, "mmmmm.." It is too precious. Now, when he is hungry, he will get fussy and cry out an "umm, umm." He is definitely letting us know what he wants. This last month, the sleeping through the night went to making it from 9:30 to 5:30 on a good morning. He usually starts to wake around 2am, but we just put the pacifier back in and all is better. This goes on again at 4:30 and then he is usually up by 5:30 or 6:00am. BUT, he does take a good 2 hour nap throughout the day. He is officially rolling from front to back and back to front without any effort. We have had to move the coffee table out of the living room, because he is now scooting and inch "worming" across the floor by pulling his legs underneath him and pushing forward. He has discovered that if he can't get to the toys on the blanket, he pulls the blanket and toys to him! When he's on his back, he has discovered the toes and loves to suck on his toes. He's quite flexible! In the morning he is pretty wired and ready to take on the day. We put him in his high chair while Steve and I eat. He has started this thing that Steve and I call the "call of the wild!" He will hit this high pitch screech enough to scare the dogs! Julius especially hates it and usually opts to go outside. We were give the ok by the doc to start using the jogging stroller and Steve has taken full advantage of that. On his days off, Jonathan and daddy go for a 3 or 4 mile run. J usually falls asleep, but will usually stay awake to say hi to the neighbors and watch the birds flying by. Now that the weather is a little warmer, Jonathan loves to be in his walker by the big window in the computer room. The breeze comes through and he gets a kick out of the wind blowing in his face. He also watches the birds outside at the bird feeder right outside the window. He has started with a little stranger anxiety. I had taken him to a meeting a church and one of the ladies was holding him and took him down the hall to say hi to the other ladies. Before I knew it, I heard him screaming. Once I got there, he calmed down. Definitely aware of his surroundings and unfamiliar faces! So, this next month, we will be working on baby proofing the house a little better, need to keep practicing sitting up on his own (although I think he wants to go straight to stand), and exploring some different food options. Here we go....!

Baptism
May 31, 2012, Jonathan became an active member of the Catholic church through baptism. It was such a wonderful celebration. Mike and Melinda served as Godparents. It was Palm Sunday weekend and of course, the readings were much longer this mass. I thought we were in the clear when Jonathan slept through mass for about 45 minutes. The baptism ceremony was held after the mass. He started to get a little fussy, but I thought for sure he would hang in there and make it through. Well, as we all made the sign of the cross, and the water was poured over his head....it all broke loose!! Jonathan screamed for the rest of the ceremony. I felt bad for the other family because they couldn't even hear Deacon Courtney say the remaining blessings. All, in all, our Jonathan is baptized. Knowing all that we have been through, this was such a special day for me. Especially to have my friends and my family there to witness it all. Mike and Melinda are going to serve as awesome god parents. I could not have asked for a more wonderful couple to help Steve and I guide Jonathan in his walk with Christ. My brother and sister in law are amazing and I don't know what I would do without them.
